Tie-Dye Pattern

Create a tie-dye piece of attire. Only god knows where the desire to add this project to the list came from. It was added long before I had children, so I cannot even use that excuse. However, it was during a brainstorm for ideas to keep my daughter entertained during lockdown when everything aligned.

My daughter was very excited about creating her own tie-dye t-shirt, and we already had everything we needed to deliver on this project. The dye was bought from Amazon a few years back and arrived with a bundle of rubber bands. Both me and my daughter had old white t-shirts that required a new lease of life. And finally, I had an old decorators sheet to protect the surface where we completed the tie-dying.

A simple Google search and we came across instructions on different tie-dye techniques to achieve different patterns. It was a simple process with great results on both my daughters and my own pieces. Check them out at the bottom of this post.

Tie-dying is a simple and fun activity to be completed with children. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed adding the dye in the garden sun, and she has not stopped wearing the t-shirt since.

As a parent, it would be great in the comments section to see other ideas on how to keep young children entertained during such challenging times. I will also look to cover this topic with some more of my own success stories in the next blog post.

Paradise Wildlife Park [Review]

Paradise Wildlife Park is an animal park located in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. It is right on our doorstep, so it is no surprise that I have visited this attraction multiple times both as a child and a parent. The zoo has undergone a major transformation in my lifetime transforming from the worst zoo in Britain to one of much acclaim. As with many attractions, Paradise Wildlife Park was put under significant strain when forced to close its gates in response to COVID-19. They eventually opened again in late June. Eager to show our support for a local attraction much loved by my family, we immediately booked our tickets to visit once again.

This is a first for my blog. The Playing Dad series meets The Edison Project. This post is once again a little later than it should be, but the concept only came to me when writing my previous post on creating tie-dye attire with my daughter.
