In my last blog post I hinted towards some big news in the next few days. This big news may not be so exciting now that I have plastered it across every social media channel I am present on, but what bigger news is there than announcing me and my lovely girlfriend are expecting our first child. I should also clarify that despite sharing the news on the 1st April, it was most certainly not an April Fool. I simply could not keep the news to myself any longer – “We are expecting a baby girl in late August!”.

The 1st April was the date of our five month scan. The initial news was broken to me before Christmas, and what a Christmas present it was. It has been extremely challenging for me to keep it relatively quiet since then. Only family and a few close friends were made aware of the news during this period. Now that it is out there, I cannot stop smiling every time someone mentions it. Becoming a dad has been a life goal I have always looked forward to, and it is something that will give me so much pride. It will be challenging, but I am confident we will both make excellent parents.

The other thing I can assure you is that becoming a dad will most certainly be covered on my blog. I suspect it will also heavily influence my yearly goals as we move forward, but let’s take it one step at a time for now.

So, baby names. Prior to finding out our babies probable sex, I have been dropping hints towards Star Wars themed names. My thinking is it would be cool to be known as Kylo or Skylo Moon (Moon being my last name). Believe it or not, I think Hana was coming around to the idea. Come July August expect to see us opening up our name brainstorming to social media as we look to fine tune our selection. Before you go there, Baby McBabyFace is not an option.

The last point I would like to make in this post is a big thank you to all the congratulatory messages we have received since announcing the great news. Over 300 likes on our Facebook status were a lot more than we expected. Is it a sign of the times that I interpret a high volume of likes as something to be shouted about and proud of? Or maybe I need to get out more.
